I love the X-men, so every time I feel like I've rounded a corner into a new look in my art, I make a mock X-Men cover. The figures themselves didn't take long, but I'm not drawing a brick again for awhile if I can help it.

Wow awesome amigo! I think the background improvement is definitely noticeable, so its time well spent. I love the shadows on the ground and that the figures themselves have the right amount of dark/light on them.

Haha, I love that Storm. She was dead-on from my first sketch! You're just arguing that Destro is really black. You need to come back to America so we can have this conversation over some gas station 40 oz Icehouses.

God, I wish it was a filter. Haha, no, that was by hand.... BUT, I DID CHEAT.... I had the photograph up next to it and I would sample colors every ten pixels to bring out and isolate all the rich colors your eyes don't normally see. Love computers. With acrylic paint (my weapon of choice) that background would have taken me a week.
